Women's health, men's health, diabetes, thyroid management, cardiovascular disease, food allergies, and naturopathic primary care.
Dr. Renee Plummer is a general practitioner who specializes in women’s health, endocrinology, and physical medicine. Her goal is to combine holistic and conventional medicine to promote a balanced whole body with an emphasis on mind-body connection.
On the path to her Doctorate, Dr. Plummer had a conversation about the six principles of naturopathic medicine with a Bastyr student. This led her to realize the value that she places on having a therapeutic relationship with every patient. Because this was an aspect of health care that she did not experience growing up, it became a driving force of her philosophy. This is why you will often hear Dr. Plummer’s laughter spontaneously permeate throughout Health Moves or hear her humming her favorite song of the day.
Being around people fuels her and provides her with a vivacious, infectious energy. Taking care of her family is the primary reason that Dr. Plummer worked her whole life to become a doctor. She grew up in a house full of strong women who pushed her to do her best in every aspect of her life, an approach she follows to this day. In high school, along with her academic studies, Dr. Plummer took on the challenges of competitive sports, student body politics, medical internships and teaching roles. She was a leader in the classroom, on the basketball court and holds an Auburn High School Record for the 100 meter dash in track. She is also particularly proud of her role in coordinating events as Senior Class President and Social Chair. The values instilled in her by her family were summarized in this quote from her graduation speech: “the only time success comes before work is in the dictionary.” Putting in the hard work each day is how Dr. Plummer gives back to her family and the community at large. A Washington native, Dr. Plummer was born and raised in Seattle where she trained tirelessly at the University of Washington and Bastyr University. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine. With this background, she provides holistic care to all ages, ranging from adolescents to geriatric patients. She is thoroughly trained in pharmaceutical medicine as well as counseling, nutrition, herbal medicine, homeopathy, physical medicine and environmental medicine. She has also furthered her medical education by becoming a certified Biofeedback Practitioner as well as a certified Kinesiology Taping Practitioner.
This rigorous and thorough training has helped Dr. Plummer to refine her diagnostic and treatment techniques. At the core of her methodology is a desire to energize, empower and stimulate growth in her patients, motivating them to reach their optimal health.
Open lines of communication and trust are essential to breaking the cycle of chronic illness. An open two-way dialogue helps both Dr. Plummer and her patient stay on the same page when identifying the aspects of their health that need attention. By working with Dr. Plummer you have the luxury to be seen, heard, and helped by a physician who cares about you and your family.
